Predestination

In Islamic theology, al the events in a human’s life are the will of God. The fate of the individual beings is written by the lord and predestination is the explanation of free will given to human beings which are also called the religious determinism. The predestination concept is also accepted in Christianity and the Christians also believe that those people who willfully seek God are predestined for salvation in life. The concept reveals that God delivers his holy people who stand the test of time and see everlasting joy, those who do not believe I predestination will be sent to hell.

God has the right to judge people for their sins. Islam defined predestination in Surah Qadr which means the fate. The concept of divine destiny in Islam is one of the six pillars of faith in Islam. According to this concept, God has ordained every single event that is happening in this world. This means that God already knows what is going to happen in the world and what has already happened due to the free will of humans and their freedom to choose a right or wrong path.

Sunni scholars think that there is no contradiction between the deeds of people being created or predetermined by the God. They do not see anybody forced to do what they are doing according to Islam, the choices people make are not subject to predestination, God has given free will to everybody. Since people do not know what would be their fate in advance and who will end up in heaven or hell, therefore they can only decide what is the right path to choose that leads to salvation.

Quran clearly states the concept of free will given to the human, it is also stated that your free will is predetermined by God’s will. As the Quran says:

“Verily this (The Holy Quran) is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds; (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight, but ye shall not except as God wills; the Cherisher of the World.”

Therefore the actions of every person n are predetermined at the time of their birth. The universe gives them opportunities and chances to live their life according to their own free will, but they cannot reject what God has predetermined for them in life. There is no denying the existence of free will and there is also no denying the influence of God’s will in the fate of each and every human being.
