Jinn in Islam. The topic is Jinn is supernatural and holds a significant important in the creed of Muslims because according to Quran, the Jinn are a creature of Allah and they must be believed in just like the angels.

The Qur’an mentions about Jinns in several places. Just like human beings are made of clay, the Jinn are made of fire as mentioned in the Quran.   These statements are scientifically correct that man is made of clay and water molecules. With regard to the Jinns, the Qur’an also says that they are made from a flame of fire.

Reality of Jinn

Jinn is “a spirit” or an invisible creature of God, it is a hidden force not visible to the naked eye of humans normally. However if Allah can grant some individuals the power to see Jinns, then it is his will. Jinn can change themselves into other forms like animals.

The Qur’an says:

And the jinn race,

We had created before, from the fire of a

Scorching wind. Surah XV: 27

In note 1967, Yusuf Ali says, “Hidden or Invisible forces are aptly typified as arising ‘from the fire of scorching winds’.

he scientific definition of the Jinns is given in the Qur’an as:
And He created

Jinns from fire free of smoke.

Surah LV: 15
There is a whole Surah LXXII, called Jinn or the Spirits in the Qur’an.

Jinns are considered as foreigners or aliens, but they are the inhabitats of this universe thousands of years ago. Some of them have lived for thousands of years and can tell the stories of prophets and oldest civilizations. They are free to move in the space and some of them can fly or change their appearances as dogs or snakes.

No religion in the world except Islam has the concept of Jinn. The supply of energy comes from the foods that humans and animals eat, the Jinns also eat and according to some Muslim scholars who have studied Islam and Hadith, the food of Jinn are bones.

This is proved by the following Hadith:

“Don’t cleanse yourself with dung or with bones for that is the food of your brothers from amongst the Jinn.”

The jinn are NOT fallen angels.  They were created from a smokeless flame of fire. The first recorded jinni to be disobedient is Iblis.  Disbelieving, disobedient jinn and humans are known as shayateen (satans).

Qur’an – An-Naml 27:17-19

And there were gathered before Sulaimân (Solomon) his hosts of jinns and men, and birds, and they all were set in battle order (marching forwards).

Every Human has a Jinn Partner

According to a Hadith in sahih muslim, There is none amongst you with whom is not an attache from amongst the jinn (devil).

According to a Hadith, “The barrier between the eyes of the Jinn and the nakedness of the Children of Adam is [created] when a Muslim discards a garment and says, ‘In the name of Allah besides Whom there is no other god’.” (Ibn As-Sinni)

Hadith about Jinn in Islam. The prophet Muhammad prohibited children to go out after sunset because the evil jinns hunt for children and tease them.. This is proved by the following Hadith:

“Cover your utensils and tie your water skins, and close your doors and keep your children close to you at night, as the Jinns spread out at such time and snatch things away. When you go to bed, put out your lights, for the mischief-doer (i.e. the rat) may drag away the wick of the candle and burn the dwellers of the house.
