In Islam, the Oneness of God or Allah is called Touched or Tawhid in the Arabic language. The most solid and importance concept of Islam which speaks about the Oneness of our creator. The Quran also proves that point in the Surah Ikhlas which speaks about a One Single God of this universe. The religion of Islam starts with the belief of Tauheed, in which a muslim strongly believes that Allah or God is Unitarian. It also means that God is a single entity who has created this universe and maintaining it.
Explanation Of Tawhid
Tawhid or Oneness of God is an indication of inner faith. The Tauhid concept says that whoever worships any other living or non-living being except Allah will not be pardoned on the day of judgment. No created entity by God or any other person is worship able. Whoever commits the sin of denying the oneness of God will not be forgiven by God himself. Therefore the entire teachings of Islam depend on the first and most basic concept of tawhid for a Muslim man or woman. This point of view of Islam clearly sets Islam aside from other religions who believe in the existence of more than one God. In Christianity, the affirmations are also given about the oneness of a God who is not visible to the human eyes during their mortal life.
No living Muslim is supposed to transcend this concept of Oneness of God to keep his faith alive and not to be excluded from the circle of Islam. God is unique, an independent entity who is the most powerful and almighty. He created everything in this universe and h e is an absolute authority that nobody can deny. According to Islamic teachings, God is universal, the scholars who have read Islam in depth also connect this concept with the natural sciences.
One God: The Creator and Controller of the Universe
In the Arabic language, the verb wahadda means to unite or bring together, which speaks about the oneness of God. The denial of Tawhid is Shirk which is the most condemnable sin, which will become the reason for the failure of many non-believers on the judgment day. People who have involved idolatry and worship other things than One God are also committing the sin of shirk according to Islam. This concept also means that God has the supreme power to destroy or alter the universe with him. Therefore believing the unseen God is controlling everything visible or not visible to our eyes is Tawhid.
Quran Rules Out Existence of Multiple Gods
Tawhid also explains that God is infinite and unbeatable. He is sufficient for his creatures and his love for his creatures is divine and unconditional. Quran talks about the One God by providing an argument that the universe is in perfect balance and stability due to one administering entity is known as Allah (God). Quran says that if there were multiple Gods in the universe, then it would be in a horrible state. Therefore the possibility of having more than one God has been ruled out by Quran itself which is the holy book of faith for Muslims.
