The word Prophet means to speak of to advocate. A prophet or messenger of God is a specifically chosen individual who performs the task of serving God by transferring his message of truth to his nation of the tribe. The prophets have special or secret knowledge delivered to them by the supernatural angels of God, they have the ability to speak to angels and God almighty himself. Therefore a precious servant of God is known as a prophet or a messenger when he conveys the prophecy to other people for the happiness of God. All the prophets had an assignment or a test given by God on earth.

They all had to fulfill God’s commands and risk their lives for it. The total number of men who were given the status of a prophet were 224,000 who served the lord almighty in the history. In many eras, a messenger of God was sent to various groups of people to repent and seek forgiveness.

The Need and Masson of a Prophet

The ancient time’s hundreds or thousands of years ago needed some pious people of God to serve their lord almighty in order to bring peace into this world and save people from sin. Many prophets had to fight difficult battles and sacrifice their lives and families for the will of God. The goal of a prophet’s life was to bring a positive change into their society and save his people from the angriness of God.

In various religions like Islam, Christianity, and Judaism, prophets came into this world to convey the message of God to people who had crossed all limits of ignorance and sin during their lifetime. The prophets were persecuted also for their teachings and imprisoned by the kings. The Moses is a perfect example who was threatened to leave his preaching so many times.

Some Well Known Prophets

Some well-known prophets were Abraham, Moses, Jesus Christ, Miriam, Isaiah, Samuel, Malachi, Noah and Prophet Muhammad. All these prophets were truly inspired by the teachings of God and they were led by the holy spirit to live a purposeful life. Bible being the most prominent holy books in the world is read throughout the world by Christians and Catholic believers. Prophet Muhammad was the last and final prophet of Allah (God) who lived for 63 years almost 1400 years ago.

The Last Prophet of Islam

As the holy Quran identifies, the greatest Prophet who was assigned the mission to spread Islam was Prophet Muhammad. He was the greatest prophet of God who is meant to be a blessing for the entire human race. He demonstrated God’s teachings into his character like no other prophet did. He is the holy prophet for al mankind. The sayings and teachings of Prophet Muhammad are known as Hadith, which are compiled in books like Sahi Bukhari and Sahi Muslim etc. The Hadith holds significant importance in the lives of Muslims.
