What is Durood Sharif

Almighty Allah says: “Surely Allah and His Angels send blessings on the Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wasallim). O you who believe! Send Blessings (Durood) and Salutations (Salaams) on the Prophet with worthy Salutation”.(Surah al-Ahzab: 56)

The angels and the sahaba all used to send Durood upon the prophet Muhammad. Durood sharif is basically a sort of prayer or dua to praise the excellent character of the Holy Prophet  Muhammad (Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wasallim).” Durood sharif is a blessing itself for Muslims and Allah and his angels rank those people high who send Durood on the holy prophet frequently. The holy prophet was the most loved person in the eyes of God, therefore if someone praises him, God becomes exceedingly happy. The holy prophet said: “He who reads a single Durood upon me, Almighty Allah blesses him ten times, ten of his sins are forgiven, and he is increased ten times in stages (internally). (Mishkaat)

The Blessings of Durood Sharif

Hazrat Abdullah ibn Ma’sud (radi Allahu an) also narrates that Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wasallim) said: “On the Day of Qiyamah, the closest to me from among the people will be those who have read the most amount of Durood Shareef”. (Tirmidhi)

It is now clear from the above that the recitation of Durood Shareef (Salawat) is an act of blessing, it pleases Allah because the angels listen to Durood whenever a person on earth reads or recites it in his heart or loudly, then they convey the name of the person and his father’s name to the soul of Prophet Muhammad in heavens.

Door Sharif is a way of getting rid of sins and raise the rank for a Muslim. The angels and Malaikah when to sending their Durood on the prophet Muhammad, they actually show their respect to God for the holy prophet. Allah will definitely raise the status of Muslims sending lots of Durood on their beloved prophet, the door of blessings from sky opens as Allah listens to the Durood on the sky.This is a sure way to grant blessings to oneself. The utmost benefits are gained in the next world and grave when a Muslim has blessed due to a recitation of Durood o Salam.

The regular practicing of reciting the Durood is a sure mean to purify our souls and hearts. It transforms us into a better person that Prophet Muhammad was himself, it enlightens our minds and souls. It frees us from our sins and helps us to get our prayers answered. Whenever Durood is read three times before asking for provisions from God, the prayer has a good chance of getting heard and man can get his wish if it is acceptable to Allah for their own good.

On the day of Qayama  (judgment day), the prophet Muhammad will recognize those people who used to send blessings and Durood upon him and will provide aid for saving them from the torments of hell fire.
