There is a Islamic criteria for everything in Islam for what is right and what is wrong. Islam is clear and precise about every little and major issue in life. The Quran and Hadith has given guidance for choosing what is right and what is wrong.
The Religious Criterian in Islam
Islamic criteria is based on three sources:
- The Quran.
Allah says: “Lo! those who disbelieve in the Reminder when it cometh unto them (are guilty), for lo! it is an unassailable Scripture. Falsehood cannot come at it from before it or from behind it. (It is) a revelation from the Wise, the Owner of Praise.” [Sûrah Fussilat: 41-42]
The most authentic book in the world is the holy Quran. It is a direct voice of God and there is no room for disagreement for Muslims over any single line of Quran. How one interprets the Quranic passages is very important, the principles of Quran are based on faith.
- The Sunnah. The great life of prophet Muhamamd was the perfect example for every human being alive to determine the right choice from wrong. Prophet Muhamad (peace be upon him) had a clear life based on his faith and his hadith present a clear in meaning also. No muslim can deny them or critisize them based on personal opinion.
- Consensus of the Muslims: What we are concerned with here is consensus that is well established where we are absolutely certain of unanimity of opinion.
The Criterion of Considering the General Welfare
The religion Islam came to rescue makind and talks about the welfare of people in this life and hereafter, therefore it is not possible to associate Islam with the harm. Islam does anything and everything that does harm to the individuals and nation.
What ever is according to the sunnah of Prophet Muhamamd and Quran is good.
In Islamic criteria. There are some things that bring harm or benefit to the society How do we recognize that which is a benefit, that which constitutes part of the general welfare?
Human beings are given intellect, therefor when there is no evidence from the sacred texts, using the voice of reason, research, and drawing conclusions can help to determing the right from wrong. People with good ecuation, experience, intellectual capabilties and have a knowledge of Islam can easily determine the right from wrong. The general welfare is connected to the large masses of people in society, not to a single individual. The islamic scholars have the wisdom and knowledge that can be used to clarify the questions in your mind if you not sure as a Muslim what to do next in a specific situation.
Muslim scholars and Islamic organizations all around the world shoud participate and devote themselves to guide the people towards legal Islami c matters. Lots of them are doing a good job but some of them are under the political influence that is unfortunate.
“Oh, but the human being is a telling witness against himself, though he puts forth his excuses.” [Sûrah al-Qiyâmah: 14-15]
An honest soul of a Muslim always presents facts like a mirror.
