Violence And Harassment Against Women. If we look back in the early times and the stone ages, the women of the modern age has been able to progress tremendously in many parts of the world. But there are still many countries on the planet where women have not been able to claim their Islamic rights and advance as the women of advanced countries. The issue of domestic violence and the abuse remains mind blowing in many countries after so many years after the arrival of Islam. The violence on women is done in many forms and it is on the basis of nationality, race, color, gender and disability to name a few.
Islamic Perspective on Violence
The religion of Islam is a religion of peace, love and harmony. The Islamic values are the golden rules that condemn all forms of violence against women. As long as this violence persists against women, the basic Islamic rights of women cannot be fully benefitted from.
Islam prohibited the practice of female infanticide. Not only did the Quran prohibit this practice, it also mocks those who view the birth of a girl child with contempt. (Quran 16:58-59).
Domestic Violence
Women are subject to domestic violence done by the head of the family or men in their houses. Husbands who have no sense of Islamic teachings cross all boundaries to disrespect their wives. Any such type of physical or emotional abuse is prohibited in Islam. The Quran requires that spouses treat each other with love and mercy. (Quran 30:21). Moreover, the Quran repeatedly warns against the use of injurious statements by a husband against his wife. (Quran 58:2-4).
Unfortunately, the growing number of rapes around the world is making women insecure and scared. Rape is a serious crime and a violent crime against the victim, who is woman in Islam. This is an open invitation to ask for the rage of God. The person who is responsible for raping women is a serious criminal and legally responsible for a punishment by law. Islam do not allow anyone to engage women in intercourse against their will.
Women are facing the violence in the time of peace as well as in the time of war in many parts of the world. Kashmir and Iran are the example of that. They are a vulnerable creature and Islam condemns any form of violence against women in any circumstances. Prophet Muhammad was very strict in protecting the rights of innocent children and women, he married multiple women to save them from their cruel circumstances and gave them a loving shelter against any harmful violence.
The cultural influences and the educational system play a significant role in the empowerment of women. The domestic violence can come to an end if women can become more powerful in the society through education and be able to guard their own rights as well as the rights of other fellow women in the society. Prostitution is another increasing crime taking the shape of plague and condemned by Islam and Christianity that must be eradicated from the society.
Violence And Harassment Against Women. If the woman continuous to bear this injustice of society, they will never be able to stand achieve a respectable place in society.
