What is Jihad in Islam?
The Muslims are given a religious duty to spread the word of God and Islam. It is their religious and moral duty to take part in Jihad for spreading the religion. It deals with the specific struggle for religion and the person who is involved in the this is called Mujahid. Mujahideen is the plural of Jihad and it is also mentioned in Quran as the striving to serve the almighty God in this mortal life.
More Detailed Meanings of Jihad
The struggle of Jihad can be of different type. IF someone fights and stand up against the enemies of Islam, then they are supposed to be doing Jihad. It has a violent form and a peaceful form too. The holy war fought against the enemies of Islam for the sake of God and his creation is the violent and aggressive form of Jihad. It is also one of the most important pillars of Islam. The noble cause of helping the humanity to come out of the darkness and experience the light of Islam is known as Jihad.
Jihad is like a spiritual warfare, knowing the fact that Islam cannot be forced to spread, but when non-believers stand in the way of Muslims destroying the everlasting peace of Islam and force some people to serve the enemy (the Satan), then Jihad is inevitable.
A martyr is a person who dies in Jihad on the holy path of Islam and he gains a permanent entry into heavens. It must be noted that Prophet Muhammad prohibited his armies to kill the innocent children and women during Jihad. The virtuous life lived by the Prophet and his companions for defending and spreading Islam is of relative importance.
Examples of Jihad
When non-Muslim or anti-Islamic parents force their children by exerting enormous pressure to leave the righteous path of Islam and God, then Jihad is mandatory upon them. Moreover, the kings and prophets can do it in the form of a war with nonbelievers and beat them with their strength. It is the word of justice when the blood of innocent humans is shed in the path of Allah, then it brings their soul immortality. Another example is supporting one’s parents in this noble cause and spill your last drop of blood. The Prophet Muhammad also took part in it multiple times after the age of 40 when he was appointed as the last Prophet of God on earth.
